Travis Scott and Big Boi are facing some online backlash now that they’ve officially been announced as Supr Bowl halftime performers, along with Maroon 5

Upon learning of the rappers’ involvement in the show, fans took to social media to air their grievances. “Big Boi, like Travis Scott, just said f*** Black folks, Kaepernick & the fight against police brutality,” one Twitter user wrote

“So @BigBoi you want this to be your legacy…selling out your people in the process,” chimed in another.

“Disappointed in @BigBoi & @trvisXX for selling the culture,” another fan added

According to Variety, Scott only agreed to perform if the NFL agreed to join him in donating to a charity that supports social justice. In partnership with the sports franchise, the “Sicko Mode” rapper reportedly made a generous donation of $500,000 to the non-profit organization Dream Corps, among “other initiatives that he will work with the League on.”

Scott also issued a statement addressing his highly-controversial participation in the coveted event. “I back anyone who takes a stand for what they believe in, I know being an artist that it’s in my power to inspire,” he said.

“So before confirming the Super Bowl Halftime performance, I made sure to partner with the NFL on this important donation. I am proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change.”

As previously reported, the likes of RihannaCardi B and JAY Z allegedly backed out of the halftime performance in solidarity with former NFL player and activist Colin Kapernick
