ABC/Randy HolmesBefore Maroon 5 was officially confirmed to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, a petition urging them not to take the gig attracted over 85,000 signatures on Change.org. But now that they, Travis Scott and Big Boi have all confirmed that they’ll be performing at the game in Atlanta February 3, the petition has changed its focus.

Now renamed “Tell the Artists to #Take A Knee,” the petition states, “There’s one way they can still redeem their reputation with their fans. Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi: take a knee during your set.”

It continues, “Show the hundreds of millions of people watching that you stand in solidarity with Kaepernick and all players who protest police brutality. Use this opportunity to force the NFL to change their policy.”

At present, the petition has garnered over 85,000 signatures and currently has a goal of 150,000.

As previously reported, the rappers were met with backlash on social media following the announcement of their involvement in the halftime show. Travis, however, only agreed to perform under the condition that the NFL match his $500,000 donation to the social justice organization Dream Corps.

In fact, the petition takes partial credit for Scott’s actions. “The halftime show is forever changed, thanks to the conversation we helped create,” it states.
