Omarion vows to stop performing songs penned by R. Kelly following Millennium Tour

Brian Stukes/Getty ImagesOmarion has joined the chorus of musicians denouncing R. Kelly, following the airing of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly documentary.

Sunday night, the “Ice Box” singer took to Twitter to present his stance on the allegations outlined in the shocking six part expose. “As an artist & a champion of the arts, I am moved to share my position on #SurvivingRKelly which I haven’t seen but felt compelled to voice my position on this very serious issue since R. Kelly has written songs for B2K,” Omarion shared with fans.

He continued, “R. Kelly was both a victim & a predator & accordingly must be held accountable but also get professional help. His artistic genius inspired us all. His music is being muted by the darkness of his actions. The dark always comes to light.”

Omarion then noted that the group will still perform their hits under Kelly’s writing credit to avoid the fans’ disappointment, but clarified that following the tour he would be “retiring” those records from future set lists.

“I too am raising a future queen,” he concluded.

On B2K’s 2002 Pandemonium! album, Kelly is responsible for penning hits such as “Girlfriend,” “What A Girl Wants,” and “Bump, Bump, Bump.”
