Jay-Z Clashes With Billboard Company Over Message Critical Of Suspended Officer

Jay-Z’s lawyers are clashing with Lamar Advertising over billboard messaging that condemns a Milwaukee police officer accused of shooting and killing three people within a five year period.

Team ROC lawyer Jordan Siev says they were initially told Lamar had billboard space in the Milwaukee area, however when they submitted the messaging for the billboard they were met with a denial.

“Alvin Cole, Jay Anderson, Antonio Gonzales. They did not deserve to die. Officer Mensah must be held accountable,” was the messaging Team ROC wanted for the billboard, however, Lamar stated, “the messaging could have an effect on future action.”

Team ROC then changed the messaging to, “Alvin Cole, Jay Anderson, Antonio Gonzales. They did not deserve to die. Police officers shouldn’t murder innocent people,” again Team ROC was denied citing that Lamar “does not post copy concerning potential crimes unless there has been a judicial determination of guilt,” according to Lamar Advertising Communications Director Allie McAlpin.

Siev says the messaging is within Lamar’s copy guidelines and hopes they will reverse course, if they don’t Siev says, “we’ll assess what our legal rights are and consider next steps.”
