So I stayed up and watched the entire Grammy’s last night, even gave commentary on my Facebook page. I know many of you did as well. So, I wanted to highlight my top 5 moments at the 2019 Grammy’s as well as my 5 least favorite moments. I’ve listed them below. Feel free to leave your top 5 or least 5 too!

TOP 5 GRAMMY MOMENTS:

Alicia Keys playing TWO pianos at the same same time while singing a dope medley! In this I have to include when she started singing Ella Mai’s “Boo’d Up”, how full of light Ella Mae got!! It must feel unreal to see someone you admire singing your song!!!

Janelle Monae’s performance was phenomenal!!!! She always outdoes herself. It was dope to watch her perform so effortlessly, and it seemed as though Prince came up in and through her throughout her performance. Did you get a Prince vibe during her set?

JLO!!!!! YES!!! She is a performer and she showed it last night!! Now, I don’t think she gave much “Motown” but she damn sure gave a show and I was here for ALL of it!! Not to mention she is snatched in every way possible……go head Jenny From The Block!

DRAKE gave one hell of a speech last night while accepting his Grammy for Best Rap Song for the song “God’s Plan. In his speech he said “It’s the like the first time in Grammys history where I actually am who I thought I was for a second.” “So, I like that, that’s really nice.”

He went on to say “I want to take this opportunity while I’m up here to just talk to all the kids that are watching this that are aspiring to do music, all my peers that make music from their heart, that do things pure and tell the truth, I want to let you know we play in an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport,”….. “This is not the NBA where at the end of the year you’re holding a trophy because you made the right decisions or won the games.”

He didn’t stop there. Drake continued by saying, “This is a business where sometimes it’s up to a bunch of people that might not understand what a mixed race kid from Canada has to say or, or a fly Spanish girl from New York or anybody else, or a brother from Houston right there, my brother Travis. But look, the point is, you’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you are a hero in your hometown.” “Look, look if there’s people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain, in the snow, spending their hard-earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows you don’t need this right here, I promise you, you’ve already won,”After this moment someone must’ve assumed Drake was done but we heard him say “but” into the mic.

A source close to the situation tells E! News that Drake took a natural pause and the producers thought it was the end of the speech, which it then went to commercial. According to the insider, producers spoke with Drake immediately following his acceptance speech and offered him the opportunity to complete his speech, but Drake stated that he was actually finished with his speech and happy.

…….and my NUMBER ONE moment during the 2019 GRAMMY’s was when Cardi B made history winning Best Rap Album!! She is the first solo woman to have ever done so!! Cardi just keeps breaking barrier after barrier and I’m here for all of it! She’s truly “got it out the mud” and I look forward to watching her continue to grow.

now for the “hated it” list lol

I really wish Offset had helped Cardi to the stage but let her have that moment by herself. Not because I don’t like Offset, simply because he just embarrassed the hell out of her only months ago and at no point should that drama over shadow this moment. Let her GLOW without being a shadow……basically Offset we got you on relationship probation lol!

While we’re on the subject of Cardi B, my 4th least favorite moment was when Cardi was giving her acceptance speech and kept smacking her lips or sucking her teeth or whatever was going on! lol that’s about as bad as me smacking gum live on the radio…..it annoyed me about as much as watching her win filled me with joy.

OMG!!! Post Malone’s hair looked like if it got any hotter it was gonna start a small fire. It looked dry as hell!! I mean a lil spritz, some pink oil, hell a spray bottle of water before he hit the stage would’ve helped! I couldn’t help but wanna get him some conditioner or something.

I love Alicia Keys but not as a host of the Grammys. Kinda felt like I was at a poetry night. I almost relaxed myself to sleep, and the way she kept squinting I think she almost did too. I’m glad she got the opportunity because I am a fan, but yea……

and for my least favorite thing about the Grammys………the damn technical difficulties!!!! I mean there were times nobody knew the cameras were rolling, people still finding their seats, Alicia having side conversations, oh it got bad! At one point I saw a man run from behind the screen and run back, like what?!!! Not to mention the time no-one knew how to leave the stage. Just saying, the Grammys only happens once a year…..can we practice next time?

Shouts out to the Grammys for attempting to make this year more inclusive!
